Memphis is known internationally as "The Home of the Blues." And on your fabulous Heritage Tour, you'll view a street that continues to impact the city's history as it did during its most glorious period in the early part of the 20th century with lots of music and thriving Black businesses.

Beale street was the social gathering magnet and meeting place for blues legends like the "Father of the Blues," W.C. Handy who began publishing his songs as early as 1912. And the Memphis jug bands, prominent during the late 1920s and early 1930s, represent another of the transitional phases in Memphis blues music

So as you witness world famous Beale Street on the Heritage Tour, just remember --- it is the place where many of the blues innovators perfected their talents. You're certain to marvel as you think of these blues legends that include names such as: Smokey Hog & Peppermint Harris, Floyd Dixon, Amos Milburn, Charles Brown, Roy Brown T-Bone Walker, Gatemouth Moore, Lowell Fulson, Percy Mayfield, Louis Jordan, Pee Wee Crayton, Memphis Minnie, Memphis Slim, Johnny Ace, Roscoe Gordon, Albert Kin & Jr. Parker, Bobby Bland and B.B.
